UO MEChA

MEChA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán/Mexican American student movement of Aztlán) is a student organization at University of Oregon that raises political, social, and cultural awareness. Originating as the Chicanx Student Union in 1964 and later adopting the MEChA identity during 1969 Santa Barbara Conference, the organization welcomes students from all backgrounds within the Latinx community. MEChA continues to honor Indigenous roots, advocate for community needs, and work toward self-determination and justice.
